Completed Projects:

1. Donate money to send two orphan children to school for this school year (2008-09). School in Thailand is not free. It is cheap, but there are costs involved. School uniforms must be purchased, books and a small tuition. At some schools this tuition covers school lunches. Cost at the low end is about US $100/year/child. While this seems like a very small amount, when you have 12-40 orphan children to send, you can see why they need help. I was very happy to be able to 'sponsor' these children.

2. Duck House Project for OPC. This was a very small project for the OPC. They didn't have any place for the ducks to stay and consequently, they roamed free. That meant that they ate the vegetables that were growing for the kids. With only 2000 baht (approx. $60) Kham was able to build this small duck house. I was very impressed with what he was able to accomplish with such a small donation.. Click on the small photo for a larger view.

3. Gifts of rice – My Father's House, Bethal House, OPC and Nong Kai Elementary School. Below is a picture of a small 'rice store' in Nong Kai at the 'day market'. Many 'rice stores' look more like large warehouses, open in the front. The large white bags are 45 kilos and currently, the price is about 1560 baht (approx. $50) for good quality rice, 10-15% broken. As you can see, rice comes in different grades and of course there are many different types of rice available. Rice is the major staple of the Asian diet and Thailand is the world's leading exporter of rice.

4. Donation of 2 R/T airfares to bring Orphanage Director to the US for fund raising activity. This is the second R/T airfare I have been able to provide. The Director comes to the US to speak with churches/ organizations to help with funding of the orphanage that they run. I am very happy that I was able to provide this airfare for him.

5. School lunch program for Samut Songkhram Orphanage.
